Authentic Furnishings, Contemporary Heritage
The 80’s Guesthouse is located at a 100 year-old shop-house in the heart of George Town, Penang’s UNESCO heritage heart.
The interior architectural design and planning of this backpackers’ inn blurs the line between the old and new, the heritage and contemporary. The original internal washed out open brick walls, exposed beams and aged doors are retained to preserve the raw, heritage feel of the building, whilst cement wall and flooring are raw-treated to exude a similar ambience. Sharing bookshelves and low-level furnitures at the common areas facilitate community connection between travellers from diverse backgrounds.
